Using external USB device :
If you use an external hard drive through an USB connection you can get an exception error if the power of your computer is not enough. Backing up data request a maximum of power. A lack of power will loose the USB connection and the backup job will fail. To work out connect your USB hard drive to an USB hub self powered, and not directly to your computer USB port. You can find USB hub at less than 10$. This can occur if your USB interface is version 1.1 instead 2.X

· OLE error :
OLE error can have several origins. OLE error is a Windows error generated by the system when the program can't access a registered ActiveX server. In Backup2009 Pro only the zip engine is an ActiveX.

If the error occurs while you are navigating through a zip file and have clicked over a file to open it; this means that the ActiveX is currently busy. In this case just let the program displays the current demand before requesting a new one.

If the OLE error is generated as soon as you request a backup, a restore or a file; check if another instance of the program is not already running (a scheduled task, for example). Let the task to be completed, before requesting a new access to the ActiveX.

OLE error can also be generated when Windows does not find the ActiveX server registration in the registry. First try to reinstall the program. If the problem is not fixed this can be the result of a registry problem. Use a registry repair utility to fix the Windows problem and reinstall the program.

· What is error 507 ?
An error occurred while writing to the zip file.
Before starting the backup the program verifies the state of the location folder. But during the process something can happen and the medium or the drive disconnected.
Also make sure that you have enough disk space.

· Scheduler does not start
The scheduler is the Windows scheduler itself. Backup2009 Pro creates the task in the Windows Scheduler. If the task not run you must first check if the Windows scheduler is correctly installed. Go to the Control Panel and click the Scheduled Tasks icon.

If all is correct be sure that you are using the last Windows build. Microsoft has fixed an important bug in the scheduler.
To determine what is going wrong you must find if the problem is the scheduler or if it is the backup job itself.
· the backup job : if the backup job is the cause, go to the Backup timeline if the task has been launched it appears as ran. Move to the Backup report and check the status of the scheduled backup definition.
· the scheduler :
· first remember that if you are not working with an user account password protected, Windows will not launch the task if the user is not logged.
· if you are using  a notebook by default Windows does not launch a task if it is running on battery.

With some Vista configuration multiple schedules don't work. The main schedule works but subsequent schedules are ignored. To work around : create a new task for each schedule (task name must be different).

· Zip file can't be viewed in the Windows Explorer : the zip file viewer coming with Windows is very limited. It is unable to display archive file where the full path name of stored files are included. It displays file with relative path name (without drive). A backup software, of course, needs to preserve the full path name, including drive, of archived files.
